Well this is a bitch

Seems at some point I saved my CAD model and now it's too big to open!

In other news, on deck for tonight are the following:
  • Grilled shrimp and gnocchi in some rockin lemon garlic butter sauce
  • Coors Light
  • Reviewing some track data in Pi Toolbox (i2, in my opinion, is vastly superior)
  • Maybe some Men of War?
But since I wouldn't want to leave my fans without something visual, we'll give you this -

Jackie Ickx gets it done.

Hi Tom did you manage to get any further with opening the model? what's happening? Are you just running out of memory? you could try increasing the page file size?

Problem wound up being with Vista. Apparently running in "Administrator" mode is generally a massive resource hog. Changing over to "Standard User" fixed the problem instantly. Now I can get back to design.

that's useful to know - I'd noticed that just sitting in vista was using 1.5gb of memory, albeit with the matlab/catia/ansys servers all running.
I'm seriously considering going back to xp64. Although, apparently the new windows 7 has a virtual xp64 built in. Nice.
